We all have hopes and dreams. How important is it for our hopes and dreams to become one with the will of God? This is very hard question for the world, hard question for the spiritually immature, and really hard for those who have not put down any type spiritual root system.
The book of Proverbs places high value on productivity. The willingness to work hard and do one’s very best at any and every job is a vital part of wise living. Wise living is a way of serving God with our very best. We read about the hard working ants.
We read about the sluggard. Today sluggard, consider your way and be wise. Have you looked a slug lately? A slug is an almost lifeless and slimy unattractive creature. The sluggard is lacking in hopes and dreams. The sluggard would not be considered a dream chaser. Both are living life for themselves. Too much of either, the sluggard or to much of the dream chasing is not being wise. It Is not of Christ or God’s will for our earthly life.
Have you look at the little ants in an ant hill lately? Proverbs 6:7-8 state that the ant what? “Has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers it food at harvest.”
The ant colony has different levels of authority. They don’t tell each other what to do. By instinct, the ant has motivation. Today if we could bottle up some of that motivation, every business and most parents would be placing orders for motivation.
As the ant stores and gathers, we think of the great teachers, successful business, olympic and super star athletes, they spent hours, days, week, and much of a life time in preparation. Chasing dreams and goals. And the world says, chase those dreams. Society says, “go, go, go as fast as you can and do whatever you need to do.“
We are not of the world… are we? Are you? In Jesus’ very first instruction to the church in the book of Acts. 1:4, Jesus said “Wait.” The church was to wait for God’s Holy Spirit to move. Acts 1:4, Jesus said, “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.”
I encourage you today to prayerfully seek the Lord’s leading in your life. Asking the Lord, “Do my hopes and dreams line up with you Lord? Do my hopes and dreams help me serve the Lord to the fullest?” Pastor Matt
